Ghost and Sports

From True Capitalist Radio Wiki

Ghost has notably expressed his attitude towards sports teams and sports in general throughout his broadcasting career.

Ghost's opinion on sports

Ghost has stated that he only enjoys semi- and full-contact sports, especially mixed martial arts and other combat sports. He regards all other forms of sports as fruity and boring. He seems to harbor an especially vitriolic attitude towards baseball, which he regards to be "as exiting as watching flies fuck". This was the case when the name "Astros 1, Rangers 0" was used during Gab shoutouts and when trolls chain-called baseball clips during Radio Graffiti.

Ghost doesn't seem to much care for motorsports. When callers have asked him something about the topic, he has usually left the questions unanswered.

The most commonly discussed sport in True Capitalist Radio is American football. Ghost has expressed his attitude towards football teams, including a few particular ones mostly on the collegiate level. Ghost originally created the character of Fat Tuna on the show to give gambling advise to people, however this character proved to be short lived as Ghost grew disgusted towards NFL after 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick refused to stand up when national anthem was played as a protest towards the treatment of minorities in America. Ghost was disgusted towards Kaepernick's actions which he saw as anti-American and joined the #BoycottNFL movement stating that he will refuse to watch football again until NFL starts punishing players for such actions. It was because of this move that he had to restructure Fat Tuna's role on the show, claiming that the NFL had cost him a job, as his planned segment would've been as Ghost's bookie giving betting tips.

Ghost detests the idea of holding eSports comparable to physical sports and was enraged in Episode 590 after hearing that ESPN was going to air an Overwatch eSports tournament, complaining how 'lazy, fat fucking losers who play video games' were being compared to real athletes and put on a pedestal by ESPN.

Trolls have managed to annoy him with TTS donations featuring baseball scores and updates during the Ghost Show.

College

Oklahoma Sooners

Main article: Oklahoma University

The Sooners are the main rival of the Texas Longhorns, aka the Red River Rivalry. As Ghost is a former student of the University of Texas as well as being defensive of all things Texan, callers have naturally picked up on the importance of the rivalry as a means of agitating Ghost, sometimes even to the point of him ending the broadcast early.

Texas Longhorns

Longhorns, baby! It's UT Austin, or get the hell out!

—Ghost, fawning over the Longhorns again

Ghost is prideful of his alma mater and is easily defensive of the University of Texas at Austin as well as it's football program. In 2011 and 2016, following losses to OU, people made names on Twitter to agitate Ghost. Both times, he blamed the head coaches of the University of Texas for the losses - Mack Brown in 2011 and Charlie Strong in 2016.

Texas A&M Aggies

Main article: Texas A&M University

The Aggies were UT's biggest in-state rivalry until A&M's move to the SEC in 2012, but Ghost's personal attitude was unknown until his return in 2016, when he expressed disgust at several Twitter names such as TexasAggies4Ghost. Trolls reopened this can of worms during TTS and Mediashare donations on The Ghost Show by playing the fight song of Texas A&M, earning cans.wav.

Penn State Nittany Lions

Ghost harbors resentment towards Penn State for its role concerning the molestation scandal by former coach Jerry Sandusky and the refusal of Joe Paterno to act.

Professional

Dallas Cowboys

Main article: Dallas Cowboys

In the realm of NFL, it seems that Ghost is a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, as he has been critical in the past about how they have performed particularly during the 2011-2012 season, where he placed most blame on Tony Romo and a bad performance in the midst of a collapse that denied them a playoff berth that season. This resulted in a few callers and Twitter names that often made Ghost rage hard, even driving him to end a broadcast.

Despite the above-mentioned NFL protests, the Dallas Cowboys found themselves back in the playoffs in the 2016-17 season. They were eliminated in the Divisional Round by the Green Bay Packers, which on the Tuesday after the game, trolls exploited the loss with Twitter names to anger Ghost. He pointed out the officials may have been racist because of the Cowboys having a black quarterback (Dak Prescott) and how the Packers got favorable calls during the game.

San Antonio Spurs

Ghost is a huge fan of the San Antonio Spurs, as evidenced by him talking about them in the Ghost Show more than he has.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor

In late August 2017, Ghost stated on Gab that he was betting couple of thousand crypto on two-division mixed martial arts world champion and at-the-time current UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor winning against the undefeated eleven-time five-division professional boxing world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. Ghost theorized that despite his overwhelming odds to win, Mayweather had financial incentive to lose the match since he could just immediately rematch McGregor and earn significantly more money that way.

Ultimately, despite Ghost's predictions, Floyd Mayweather won the match, launching Ghost into rage filled rant on Gab calling McGregor a "muck shovelling mick".
