“Where were you idiots when they took out an actual socialist?”—Ghost, on former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi
Libya is a country in north Africa, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea in the North, and Egypt to the East. It was ruled by Muammar Gaddafi from 1969 to 2011, where he was killed by Libyan rebels backed by NATO. Since then, the country has been in complete disarray, where there was the 2012 Benghazi attack where four people died. ISIS has taken over parts of Libya, leading to a seemingly perpetual chaotic power vacuum.
Ghost has been highly critical of Libya and the Libyan rebels, and hated Gaddafi during the days of the first run of True Capitalist Radio. Mahmoud claims to have fought in Libya during the 2011-12 run of TCR, and was the de facto "spokesman" for the Libyan rebels. During August 2011, one of Ghost's catch phrases was "Death to Gaddafi" and was trolled for a while by pro-Gaddafi Twitter and chatroom names. After his death in October 2011, the country has been in perpetual chaos, and it escalated in September 2012 after the Benghazi attacks that left four people dead.
Since the return, Ghost has blamed both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama for the Benghazi attack, claiming they were complicit when the attacks happened. He also commented on Gaddafi being the only socialist government that "half-assed worked" as a counter-point to Bernie Sanders supporters trolling his show during the Twitter Shoutouts segment.
