The Markets

From True Capitalist Radio Wiki

"The Markets" is the name of the opening segment of the True Capitalist Radio broadcast, appearing throughout the 2011 to 2012 incarnation of the show, and finally returning in September 2016. The Markets begin about five minutes into the show, after Ghost plays his intro-jingle and introduces himself, and continues for about a half an hour to an hour.

Segment

Ghost summarizes the day in the markets and expanded on the points he finds important. He goes through the major stock entities and continues through the commodities and futures, reading the data from Bloomberg's markets section. Ghost often stops and rants on Corn, Wool and Coffee, with each segment having a speech Ghost repeated on a nearly daily basis.

Ghost is known for always claiming to have made money even in bear markets. He usually takes time to advocate bottom feeding. By the end of the markets he is often already drinking some form of alcohol. He claims this is Johnnie Walker Blue Label (although it was often switched around with beer such as Spaten, which he usually takes the time to pour into a German-made crystal glass as well). This does not support the cans theory.

Trolls would often began to attempt to agitate Ghost towards the end of the segment by spamming the Chatroom expressing their boredom. Ghost would sometimes lock it down as a cautionary response measure to their frustrations.

The Market rundown's Structure

Ghost's rundown on the Market is usually done in this order:

Item Notes
Indexes
Dow Jones Industrial
S&P 500
NASDAQ Composite
FTSE 100 This is usually read in an English Accent by Ghost if it's taken between a minor decrease to a major increase.
DAX This tends to be preluded by Ghost imitating a German ("Leschlogen Schleigen Schlogen, Volkswagen!" and occasionally "SIEG HEIL!" added at the end.
Energy Commodities
Brent Crude Oil
Gasoline
Heating Oil
Natural Gas Ghost may take time to state that he will never invest in Natural Gas and that the only Natural Gas associated with him is him farting on the Microphone, which usually triggers a load of "VIRGIN!" spam in the Chatroom.
WTI Sweet Crude Ghost usually takes the time to explain just how important the price of this is, even to non-capitalists not interested in the Markets.
Agriculture
Canola
Cocoa Ghost usually gives advice to invest in cocoa if a major holiday such as Halloween, Christmas, or Valentine's Day is approaching.
Coffee

Ghost constantly rambles on about how young Americans contribute to the Junkyard America ideology by purchasing/consuming caffeine on a daily basis. He particularly hates people who use coffee as an excuse for being 'assholes' in the morning, leading him to impersonate a coffee drinker in the Morning. He claiming that he is instead 'naturally energized' by making money, and also goes off on those who call him "un-American" for not drinking coffee - because "coffee isn't even made in America".

Corn

Ghost frequently rants about the high price of corn, being a 'Grillmaster' and his famous chargrilling techniques (with the husks on and thats pretty much it). Other subjects related to corn include: explaining how much high-fructose corn syrup is used in daily cuisine and explains how ethanol used to be extracted (and consequently burnt for fuel). This leads to him ranting about how Americans are burning food. Ghost claims this has stopped, because the American government has listened to his broadcast.

Cotton Ghost sometimes complains about 'jeans that are leggings' and $90 t-shirts from 'Abercrombie and Bitch' and the effeminate male.
Orange Juice Though this is rarely covered by Ghost, he still comments on it if it's had a notable change, such as with recent weather conditions.
Wheat
Sugar
Lumber
Oat Ghost sometimes comments with a reference to the man depicted in the Quaker Oats Logo, usually along the lines of "looks like the Quaker Oats guy has something to f-ing smile about now," or "looks like the Quaker Oats guy doesn't look to happy today."  The comment he uses is relative to a high increase or drop in price.
Soy Bean Oil
Wool
Metals
Copper Ghost links the price of copper with the price of applicances.
Gold
Silver This is Ghost's main investment area, and so he comments on this for a fair deal of time.
Livestock
Live Cattle Ghost brings up his meat-eating habits, and the jealousy of the po'.
Cattle Feeder
Lean Hog This often leads to Ghost complaining about Hambones.

And that, my friends, is The Markets, for your ass!

The Return

Upon his return in 2016, after the Emergency Broadcast, Ghost advised his listeners to withdraw from the market, claiming that he already has, and that a market crash is inevitable. Ghost explained that the markets are now controlled by the Government, that the merger between business and 'big brother government' is too close for the markets to be a safe place for capitalizing. Ghost used this as his justification for ending the segment of True Capitalist Radio.

The show's format has not changed considerably with this decision, as shows are currently only two hours long instead of the earlier three. Ghost claims he will bring the show's original time duration back in June 2016, but has made no mention of resurrecting this segment (and therefore will likely utilize the time originally intended for it to give News Commentary and take more calls).

However, in September 2016, he finally restored the show back to 3 live hours, and reintroduced The Markets into the show.

Before going into The Markets, Ghost begins with a review on stock trading advice that he tweets each morning, with references to specific companies and his expectations. His advice predominantly covers the topic of day trading, monitoring the stocks briefly after the markets opening before exploiting dips and waves. He occasionally will also recommend value investing with focus on stocks that provide dividends, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) as alternatives to day trading.

Along with his advice, Ghost recommends Ustocktrade.com in order to participate in day trading or simulated trading, as Ustocktrade is an Alternative Trading System (ATS) rather than an actual brokerage firm, so that it bypasses the law requiring $25,000 in a brokerage account in order to participate in day trading or high frequency trading

In late October 2016, following Ghost expressing his frustration with Twitter preventing him from tweeting out day trading advice, Ghost has announced that he intends to switch over to a paid private broadcast with weekly or monthly fees, likely via conference call. Ghost has stated that in the event that he discontinues the True Capitalist Broadcast, the proposed morning broadcast would continue.
